Who am I speaking to? What is their role? Do I know enough about what I am asking them about? Is the interview in person or over teams? How long does the interview need to be? Make sure the conversation flows Am I interviewing alone? Inconveniencing them and they get nothing in return Difficulty in moving away from using scripted questions Will they be open and honest? Am I being as objective as possible? Have I done everything I can to encourage them to be as open as possible? Nervous Clear objectives Lack of control and minimal time to stop and think That the interview requires good preparation but should be more conversational Not so confident with more focused questions How to try and get the interviewee to stay on track? Make sure the person understands Look at their needs How will I direct the conversation? Are they likely to discuss anything that needs escalating?
