Prelude
This
is
forest
primeval.
The
murmuring
pines
hemlocks
Bearded
with
moss
in
garments
green
indistinct
twilight
Stand
like
Druids
eld
voices
sad
prophetic
harpers
hoar
beards
that
rest
their
bosoms.
Loud
from
its
rocky
caverns
deep-voiced
neighboring
ocean
Speaks
accents
disconsolate
answers
wail
forest.
primeval
but
where
are
hearts
beneath
it
Leaped
roe
when
he
hears
woodland
voice
huntsman
Where
thatch-roofed
village
home
Acadian
farmers
Men
whose
lives
glided
rivers
water
woodlands
Darkened
by
shadows
earth
reflecting
image
heaven?
Waste
those
pleasant
farms
farmers
forever
departed!
Scattered
dust
leaves
mighty
blasts
October
Seize
them
whirl
them
aloft
sprinkle
far
o'er
Naught
tradition
remains
beautiful
village
Grand-Pré.
Ye
who
believe
affection
hopes
endures
patient
beauty
strength
woman's
devotion
List
mournful
still
sung
forest
a
Love
Acadie
happy.
